Eco Council

In 2010, Overton CE Primary School registered with the Eco-Schools programme, run in England by Keep Britain Tidy. The purpose of this scheme is to encourage schools to become sustainable, and there are currently 46 countries around the world that run the Eco-Schools programme.

The Eco-Schools Programme is focused around nine key environmental topics:

The Eco-Schools Programme is focused around nine key environmental topics:

  • Water
  • Biodiversity
  • Energy
  • Global Perspectives
  • Healthy Living
  • Litter
  • School Grounds
  • Transport
  • Waste

The Eco-Council reps from across the school meet and agree an action plan for the coming term as well as organising whole school events.

Classes have made Eco pledges and are mindful of the nine key environmental topics and how these issues impact the school, the community and the wider world.
The Overton community has also supported Bags2School for many years providing an opportunity to recycle clothing whilst raising money for the school. eco2.jpg
