About Us

Overton CE Primary School caters for children aged four to eleven (Reception to Year 6).  It was founded in 1847 as a Church of England Foundation.  The current main building was built in 1969 and was designed as a semi-open plan school for 210 children. The school was extended and upgraded in 1998, 2001 and 2012. We now have around 400 children in 14 classes with 2 classes per year group.

The school has recently been completely reclad, with the major building works and constant upheaval finishing in time to celebrate the school’s 50th Birthday in 2019.  We are really pleased with the results. In addition to the exterior changes, all classrooms have been repainted and have had new carpets fitted with new tables and chairs.  We are also hugely grateful to our OSA who have funded the replacement of the interactive whiteboards with brand-new touch screen panels and a new Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) which opened in September 2021.

The main building has 12 classrooms, a purpose built music and drama room, a community room, a children’s kitchen for curriculum cooking and a newly built library and research centre.  Each classroom has access to laptops.

The school is set in an attractive environment of ten and a half acres with a landscaped playing field, children’s trim trail, pond area and 2 playgrounds.    A meditation area and willow garden have provided further environments which enhance the outside learning space.

There are 2 purpose-built Reception classrooms with a dedicated landscaped outdoor area designed to provide a variety of learning opportunities all year round.

The wonderful school grounds provide rich opportunities for learning outside the classroom.
